Website Launch and future photography projects

I have been working on the website for a few months and it is almost finished. Now it’s time to get some new work done. I have found that the best thing to do is just to dive in and start. Currently, I have two projects I have begun. One is a still life project. I am going to see what inspiration my garden will bring me this year and do a series that is inspired by things that are growing there. I will keep you posted as I finish new images. I intend to shoot both with my mirrorless digital SLR, my 2 1/4 and with my 4” x 5” View Camera.

The second project is an encaustic photography project. (Encaustic is a wax medium that you can coat photographs with. In addition you can add pigments and layer elements into the wax). Last year I took an encaustic photography weekend workshop with Amanda Smith and Kevin James Tully sponsored by their gallery, the A. Smith Gallery in Johnson City, Texas. Below are a couple of the first images I made that weekend. I have now ordered all the things I need to set up to make encaustic photographs at home. So this series is to be continued.

The first image was hand colored then coated with encaustic medium. The second image is more painterly and has pigment applied to the surface of the encaustic medium.
